Charles "Mac" Powell, Ph.D.
President, WestMed College
Dr. Powell holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees and a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Missouri. He also completed a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at Antioch University in Los Angeles.
Dr. Powell is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and was trained at Cedars-Sinai Hospital’s Center for the Study of Children in Groups, Vista Del Mar’s Family Stress Program, and at the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center. He also worked as the primary family therapy clinician for a residential treatment facility for women and their families in St. Louis before designing a sports psychology curriculum at the Gateway Golf Academy.
Dr. Powell has served as a Subject-Matter Expert for the California board of Behavioral Sciences and as an Executive Board member of the Committee for the Council of Applied Master’s Programs in Psychology.
